In a bid to modernize and harmonize Nigeria’s taxation system, the President recently assented to a set of new tax laws designed to streamline the legal and institutional framework, reduce inefficiencies, and strengthen revenue generation for national development. These reforms are expected to create a more transparent, inclusive, and business-friendly tax environment.
While initial sensitization efforts have been initiated, feedback from the Abuja business community, comprising MSMEs, multinational corporations, startups, and industry associations, indicates a lingering need for deeper clarity. Persistent questions, nuanced interpretations, and concerns regarding the practical implementation of these reforms necessitate a more interactive and collaborative forum.
The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), through its National Policy Advocacy Centre (NPAC), in collaboration with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), is convening a Town Hall Meeting themed “DEMYSTIFYING THE NEW TAX LAWS.” This event is designed to move beyond one-way communication to a two-way dialogue, ensuring the reforms are not just understood but are also successfully adopted by the very engine of the national economy, the business community.
